Flexible layouts in SharePoint

If you’ve ever felt like SharePoint’s page design is a bit too rigid, you are not alone. A lot of people, especially editors and teams thinking about switching to SharePoint, find the strict column layouts frustrating. The good news? It looks like it is about to change.

Microsoft is rolling out a new feature enabling flexible layouts in SharePoint. This update will let you move things around more freely on the page and resize them as you like. You won’t have to stick to those stiff columns anymore. It’s all about giving you more control over how your pages look and feel.

A lot of organizations have hesitated to fully embrace SharePoint because of its design limits. For example, if you’re trying to build a modern, good-looking page, the current column system can feel like a wall you keep bumping into. It works, but it’s not exactly flexible.

This feature is expected to start rolling out in March 2025.
