SharePoint: News posts will default to “Made for Email” starting soon

Microsoft is making a change to SharePoint News. Starting soon, every news post you create will default to the “Made for Email” template. This means that all new posts, whether you’re starting fresh, copying an old post, or using an existing template, will automatically come with the option to send the content as an email to your audience.

The Made for Email templates have been popular with some organizations for their flexibility in sending content directly to inboxes. But after speaking with many organizations, it is clear that not everyone is thrilled about this change. Many feel that automatically defaulting to this template doesn’t align with their communication guidelines or internal processes. They’ve expressed concerns and hope Microsoft will include an option to disable it.

The feature has a planned preview rollout for July 2024, with general availability expected in August 2024.
